The Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) in Coimbatore is the official government facility for passport applications, renewals, and tatkal services for residents of Coimbatore and surrounding districts.
How the Coimbatore Passport Seva Kendra Works
The PSK system is appointment-based — walk-ins are not accepted. The complete process is online-first:
- Register at passportindia.gov.in — create an account with your Aadhaar-linked mobile number
- Fill the online application form — fresh passport or re-issue/renewal
- Pay the fee — debit card, credit card, or net banking (no cash)
- Book an appointment — choose your date and time at Coimbatore PSK
- Visit the PSK on appointment day — carry all original documents
- Police verification — happens after PSK visit, within 2–3 weeks
- Passport delivered — via Speed Post to your registered address

Documents Required
For new/fresh passport:
- Aadhaar card (strongly recommended as proof of address and DOB)
- Voter ID card or ration card (alternative address proof)
- Birth certificate or school leaving certificate (DOB proof)
- Passport-size photos as per specifications (available at shops near the PSK)
For renewal (re-issue):
- Old passport (original)
- Application form submitted online
- Address proof if address has changed
- Police clearance certificate (if required based on conditions)
Tatkal Service
Tatkal passport gets police verification after passport issuance (not before), making it suitable for urgent travel needs. Surcharge: ₹2,000 above normal fees. The appointment queue for tatkal is separate and faster.
Tips for a Smooth Visit
- Carry all originals + photocopies — they check originals at the counter
- Arrive 15 minutes early — queues form before opening
- Dress appropriately — passport photo will be taken at the PSK
- Bring a printed or downloaded copy of your appointment receipt
- No mobiles allowed inside — leave phone in car or use the phone deposit facility
